I choose to not own, or carry a “smartphone”
I have many reasons for this choice. These reasons are based on past
experience with owning such a device.Short version – it owned me.
There is rarely an in person conversation for me these days where some “notification”, 99 percent of which are shallow trivial nuggets of information that apparently MUST be viewed NOW barge into
the middle of.
I find it incredibly distracting!
Im Listening…
(No, your not)
During a conversation the persons phone beeps or vibrates, and
they (MUST) reach in their pocket, pull the phone to the “low ready position”and say
“go ahead “Im listening” . Their eyes on the screen, and unconsciously thier body
language changed to falsely demonstrate that the are the boss at this stuff.
They got this….watch.
They are one person on Earth that can properly multitask. CONSTANTLY.
They alone can somehow can be fully present in two conversations at the same time.
Only their brain has evolved so they can fully remember both conversations and
not miss a beat!
BEEP !!………Conversation awkwardly “paused”.
Fingers tapping, head down. RUSHING a misspelled shallow reply.
THEY feel stress.
I feel stress.
Just realize that when you say” Im listening”, your lying.
There is no app for common sense.
