I quit the news.

Last week I took in no news.
For one week – no news, from any source.
I learned alot.

News fast
Day 1.

I became AWARE of how often I felt compelled to “check the news”.
I ignored my minds VERY FREQUENT “request” to check the news.
Financial news…Hows gold doing? What about Bitcoin? Has the market crashed? Who got arrested, died…. what got stolen, who got shot?

Day 2.

Same as day one.

Days 3-7.

Someone asked me “did you hear about the debt ceiling”? “Were screwed!”.
I had not. And, it felt good to NOT know!
I know that the debt ceiling drama is smoke and mirrors.
Bullshit. Drama, created and masterfully presented to keep us in fear.
But I was NOT in fear……cause I didnt know about it.
And (because of my “no news” expirence) – how much less anxiety I already felt- I truely dont care to know.

News
Crisis to “crisis”.

After returning on day 8 to “news”, I felt different about it.
I  felt my vibe- my mood) drop  as I scanned the feed.

I cannot “un feel” how much better I felt for that one week.
Ignorance IS bliss! Truely.

Funny….we all want what NOT watching news offers.
Less anxiety, better mood, brighter outlook.
More on this at 11.

Key Take aways:
(from my news fast)

1-News, as it is offered to us today is irrelevant to my survival.
2- Within a just few days of no news I felt remarkeably better, more upbeat,
happier, LESS ANXIOUS.
3 – By day 4 I was not “jonesing “to see whats “new”.
4 -I  accomplished more in less time by not having my attention “stolen”,
ferquently broken by switching tasks to view negative shit in the form
of “news”.
5 – News is simply a never ending reporting of CRISIS.
Example :
When I quit news the “top story” was the banking crisis.
With a WEEK, that was replacedby the next crisis –  “the debt ceiling”.
This proves to me that news chooses to keep the reader or viewers (all of us) coming back by reporting addictive NEGATIVE “fight or flight” “breaking” stories.
